Behind the Finished Piece
16 considered stages.
From raw pine to the completed box, every stage contributes to its character. Natural wood wax is applied and buffed by hand, with a different character from our sealed polished finish.
Our Craftsmanship Process
Four chapters.
Sixteen considered stages.
Material
Material selection, inspection and careful preparation lay the foundation for the piece.

Wood Selection
Suitable pine boards are selected with care for the dimensions, character and intended purpose of the piece.

Material Inspection
Grain, natural markings and the condition of each board are inspected before preparation begins.

Surface & Filler Preparation
Small irregularities are addressed where needed to prepare the surface for accurate shaping and refinement.

Machine Sanding
The raw wood is sanded to refine the surface while keeping its natural texture and grain visible.
Form
Precision cutting, pre-assembly sanding, signature stamping and protection prepare each part for joining.

Precision Cutting
Individual components are measured and cut to suit the box design, proportions and planned assembly.

Pre-Assembly Sanding
The separate wooden parts are sanded before joining, including edges and areas harder to reach later.

Signature Stamping
The brand mark is placed with care as part of the piece, before the next stages of assembly and finishing.

Masking & Protection
Areas requiring a clean boundary are masked where appropriate before further work is carried out.
Wax Preparation
Assembly, careful sanding, dust removal and hand-applied wood wax bring the natural character of pine forward.

Assembly & Clamping
Prepared components are aligned, joined and secured while the box structure takes shape.

Post-Assembly Sanding
Edges, joints and assembled surfaces are refined through further sanding for a more consistent finish.

Dust Removal
Sanding residue is carefully removed so the wood surface is ready for wax application.

Wood Wax Application
Wood wax is applied to the prepared surface, bringing attention to the natural appearance and feel of pine.
Final Details
Wax buffing, hardware fitting, inspection and presentation complete the natural wax finish journey.

Wax Buffing
The waxed surface is buffed by hand to refine its appearance and develop a gentle, natural-looking sheen.

Hardware Fitting
The required hinges and closure hardware are fitted and checked for alignment and smooth operation.

Quality Inspection
The assembled piece is checked for finish, alignment, detailing and hardware before final presentation.

Final Reveal
The completed piece brings together natural pine character, hand finishing and carefully fitted details.
Made by Hand
Wood is a natural material, so grain, knots, tone and subtle handcrafted details can vary from one creation to another. Those differences are part of the individual character of the finished piece.
A Note on Craftsmanship
No two pieces of natural wood tell exactly the same story.
